Dr. Folu Folarin Ogundimu trained at Indiana University, Bloomington and the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He is a tenured Associate Professor of Journalism at Michigan State University, Michigan, USA. Dr. Ogundimu is a former award-winning broadcast journalist with Nigeria's WNBC; he is co-editor of Media and Democracy in Africa; and editor of the journal of African Rural and Urban Studies, (1997).
Professor Ogundimu has served as Senior Research Associate for Afro barometer and the Centre for Democracy and Development, Ghana; Research Associate for the Globalization Research Centre on Africa, UCLA; and Rockefeller Research Fellow at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He directed MSU Study Abroad programs in Ghana; Australia; and the United Kingdom (1993, 1998).
Dr. Ogundimu's current research agenda involves comparative media systems, governance, and public communications. He previously served as a consultant to the USAID, (Zambia, 1995); the UN Economic Commission for Africa (Ethiopia); the BBC Network Africa, and Freedom House. Dr. Ogundimu is a Fellow of the CIC Academic Leadership Program, (1998-1999); former chairperson of the University Committee on Academic Policy and current member of the MSU Social Science Institutional Review Board. |
