| Dr. Raphael Chijioke Njoku, a first class honors graduate of University of Nigeria Nsukka, received two Ph.D.s in: (1) African History from Dalhousie University, Canada, 2003, and (2) African Politics from Free University Brussels, 2001. Before he joined the University of Louisville faculty in 2003, Njoku had taught briefly at the Department of History, Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri, Nigeria. His research specialty is African history and African politics. He is the author of Culture and Customs of Morocco (Greenwood, 2005), and African Cultural Values: Igbo Political Leadership in Colonial Nigeria 1900-1966 (Routledge, 2006), and co-editor of Missions, States, and European Expansion in Africa (Routledge, 2007). Njoku has also published 20 articles in scholarly journals, edited volumes, and encyclopedias. His most recent awards include Victor Olurunsola Endowed Research Award and a research fellowship from the New York based Schomburg Center for Research in Black Studies. Njoku is currently working on a book project entitled African Masks and Masquerades and Carnival of the Diaspora. |
