Dr. Sylvester Osagie is an Assistant Professor of Labour and Industrial Relations in the Division of Business and Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University, Altoona Campus. His qualifications include B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in Sociology from the University of Ibadan, and MS and PhD degrees in Organizational Behaviour from Cornell University.

Dr. Osagie previously taught sociology at Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye, Nigeria. He has published in the areas of leadership, development, education, and healthcare in journals, books, and conference proceedings, and has presented several professional papers at international conferences. At Cornell, he was a member of a research group (later known as the Smithers Institute) that trained employee assistance practitioners in the state of New York.

His professional affiliations include the Academy of Management, American Sociological Association, Collegiums for African American Research, and the Alliance for Earth Sciences, Engineering, and Development in Africa (AESEDA) a Penn State Initiative to develop interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach for sustainable livelihoods in Africa.
